Skiing in Alta is hard to
surpass and certainly powder skiing is the the most popular past time.
Sadly boarding is not permitted in the resort. Summer is so popular
providing endless trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback
riding all set within Utah’s picture perfect alpine beauty.
If you enjoy laid back
causal fare, laid back cuisine and steaming bowls of hearty soup in a
serene mountain setting then dining out in Alta will be just up your
street. While you may not get the variety of dining options offered by
posh Park City and even Snowbird, Alta has a terrific selection and a
more than enjoyable Après ski crowd.
Alta has just enough Ski
equipment stores and local souvenir shops to meet our visitor’s needs.
For those dining home, the local grocery stores provide fresh food,
grass fed beef and lamb as well as a variety of seafood options. A
number of good local wine stores will ensure that your Après Ski dinner
is just perfect.
We recommend flying into
Salt Lake City located approximately 33 miles from Alta. The Airport
provides ski shuttle. Utah Transit Authority (UTA) operates a shuttle
bus route from many locations throughout the Salt Lake Valley directly
to the base of Alta’s lifts.
