Every Colorado mountain town we cover

Nine towns along two mountain corridors. Which one you pick decides your lift access, your drive from Denver and how much house your budget reaches.

Colorado

1,634 homes

Nine mountain towns, most of them strung along the I-70 corridor west of Denver. Vail and Lionshead carry the largest share by a wide margin, followed by Beaver Creek and Breckenridge; Aspen and Snowmass sit further west in the Roaring Fork Valley, and Steamboat Springs and Winter Park lie north of the interstate and run quieter.

Getting your Colorado trip right

Which mountain town?

Vail and Lionshead carry by far the largest share of what we represent, followed by Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch, then Breckenridge. Aspen and Snowmass sit further west in the Roaring Fork Valley, and Steamboat Springs and Winter Park run quieter with smaller books.

Ski-in ski-out, or walk to the lift?

A luxury mountain home with ski-in ski-out access, a hot tub and in some cases staff is a different proposition from a cosy condo you walk to the lift from, with a shared pool and hot tub. Both exist here in numbers; the gap between them is mostly privacy and price.

Winter and summer both work

These homes have summer and winter availability, and stays run from three nights to a month. The mountains do not shut down when the snow goes, so if your dates are flexible the shoulder months are far easier to book.

Book early for the holiday weeks

Christmas, New Year and the school ski weeks are the tightest dates of the year in every one of these towns. Outside them there is usually more room to move, and a call is the fastest way to find out what is genuinely open.

Colorado vacation rental questions

The things travellers ask us most before they book.

Which Colorado ski town should we choose?

Vail and Lionshead hold the largest share of the homes we represent by a wide margin, which makes them the place to start if you want a real choice. Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch come next, then Breckenridge. Aspen and Snowmass are further from Denver, and Steamboat Springs and Winter Park are quieter with fewer homes on our books.

What is the difference between ski-in ski-out and walk to the lift?

Ski-in ski-out means you can put your skis on at the property and reach the lift without driving or riding a shuttle. Walk to the lift means a short walk instead, which is common with condos and usually costs considerably less. We represent both, so it is worth telling your agent which one actually matters to you.

Are Emerald Kite Colorado rentals professionally managed?

Yes. Every home on this page is privately owned but represented by an established local property-management company that handles cleaning, maintenance and guest support during your stay. Before a property joins our portfolio it is vetted on location, quality of the accommodation, access to amenities and the reputation and responsiveness of the management company, and it is removed if it stops meeting that standard.

Can we rent in summer as well as winter?

Yes. Our Colorado homes have summer and winter availability, and stays run from three nights up to a month. Summer and the shoulder seasons are noticeably easier to book than the holiday weeks.

Can I bring a dog to a Colorado rental?

Some homes accept pets and some do not, and it varies by property rather than by town. Use the pet-friendly filter above to see the homes that currently allow them, then confirm the type and size limits with your agent at the start of the selection process rather than after booking.

What does a Colorado ski rental cost?

It depends on the town, the week of the season and how close to the lift you are. Where an owner has published a starting rate you will see it on the listing; where they have not, rates are quoted on request, because they change constantly with season and length of stay and we would rather price your exact dates than show you a number that has moved.
