Getting your Italy trip right

Saturday to Saturday, in summer

This is the single most important thing to know before you plan. Through the summer the owners operate a strict Saturday check-in and require a seven-night minimum stay, so your travel dates need to be built around that rather than the other way round.

Where the villas actually are

Positano carries the largest share of what we represent, followed by Praiano and Sorrento, with Amalfi and Ravello behind them. Rome and Tuscany are small books by comparison and serve a different kind of trip.

Villa, apartment or condo?

Our Italian homes run from luxury private villas with pools and sea views through to cosy apartments and family vacation condos. On the Amalfi Coast a terrace with a sea view is often what people are really buying, and terraces vary far more than floor plans do.

U.S. or local agent

We keep a U.S.-based agent and a local agent for Italy, so you can raise the practical questions - check-in day, minimum stay, how many steps up to the terrace - with someone in either time zone before you commit.

Italy vacation rental questions

The things travellers ask us most before they book.

Is there a minimum stay in Italy?

Yes, in summer. The owners here operate a strict Saturday check-in and require a seven-night stay through the summer season, so trips need to be planned Saturday to Saturday. It is worth confirming the exact rule for your dates with your agent before booking flights.

Which Amalfi Coast town should we choose?

Positano holds the largest share of the homes we represent, with Praiano next and Sorrento at the northern end of the peninsula. Amalfi and Ravello are smaller books. If you would rather not be on the coast at all, we also have a small number of homes in Rome and Tuscany.

Are Emerald Kite Italy rentals professionally managed?

Yes. Every home on this page is privately owned but represented by an established local property-management company that handles cleaning, maintenance and guest support during your stay. Before a property joins our portfolio it is vetted on location, quality of the accommodation, access to amenities and the reputation and responsiveness of the management company, and it is removed if it stops meeting that standard.

What kind of properties are available?

A wide selection of luxury private villas with pools and sea views, alongside cosy apartments and family vacation condos. Large terraces and sea views are a common feature of the Amalfi Coast homes in particular.

Can I bring a dog to an Italian rental?

Some homes accept pets and some do not, and it varies by property rather than by town. Use the pet-friendly filter above to see the homes that currently allow them, then confirm the type and size limits with your agent at the start of the selection process rather than after booking.

What does an Italian villa cost?

It depends on the town, the season and whether the home has a pool and a sea view. Where an owner has published a starting rate you will see it on the listing; where they have not, rates are quoted on request, because they change constantly with season and length of stay and we would rather price your exact dates than show you a number that has moved.
