About this home
Historic Grayton Beach is often described as quaint, funky and laid back, which is also a fitting description for Grayton cottage Salty Sisters. Nestled under old oaks in the heart of town sits this incredibly roomy 3-bedroom rustic cottage perfect for a beach vacation reminiscent of days gone by. Enjoy afternoon gulf breezes on the wide front porch under the oaks as you watch folks bicycling to and from the beach, just 300 yards away. Walk to perennial Grayton favorite The Red Bar for food, cocktails and live music or to Pandora’s or Shorty’s, two other popular restaurants just down the block.
Dining in is easy, too, either on the enclosed front porch or in the dining area, both outfitted with tables for six. The enclosed porch also has a loveseat and rockers for the ultimate in climate-controlled relaxation. Inside, the living area has a sofa sleeper, loveseat and chair facing the 36” TV, equipped with DVD/CD, with a wood-burning fireplace adding to the charm. The rustic kitchen is outfitted with lots of cabinets and ample counter space, including a long breakfast bar with easy seating for 2. Just off the kitchen is the laundry room with full size washer and dryer, along with a full bath with walk-in shower and single vanity. In the back yard is an outdoor shower in an old-fashioned wooden stall. The screened rear porch has a propane grill for burgers or steaks and porch swing.
All three spacious bedrooms – one king, one queen and a bunkroom with twin bunk plus a pair of twin beds - are on the second floor. The king bedroom has partial views of Western Lake in the distance. All bedrooms share a truly large bath, equipped with both a combination tub/shower and separate walk-in shower, L-shaped dual vanity and abundant floor space.
Shopping, dining and entertainment options abound, including Watercolor and Seaside (6 miles east) Grand Boulevard and Silver Sands designer outlet, (7 miles west), Destin Commons, a premier lifestyle center anchored by Bass Pro Shops and 14-theater Rave Motion Pictures (12 miles west). An easy 23-mile drive to the east is Panama City’s new Pier Park, a mega outdoor shopping mall consisting of over a million square feet of specialty shops, retailers, and restaurants - plus the 16-cinema Grand Theatre.
Golfers can choose from a number of award-winning courses nearby, including SanDestin, Origins, Santa Rosa Beach Golf and Beach Club (whose gulf-front restaurant has stunning views and a popular Sunday brunch), Windswept Dunes and Kelly Plantation.
Grayton Beach is one of the Beaches of South Walton, encompassing 26 miles of pristine coastline. It is the only destination in the country to have its entire coastline certified as “Blue Wave” by the Clean Beaches Council for it commitment to maintaining unspoiled shoreline and natural habitat.
