The villa’s wide wooden patio offers plenty of space to lounge on a sun chair—whether you choose to be in the shade or soak in some rays. If you get warm, go for a swim in the green-tiled pool, or keep up your exercise routine in the exercise room. In the evening, throw some burgers or kebabs on the gas grill, and dine alfresco.

Inside, the villa exudes a colonial ambiance with exotic wood and stone touches. The living room opens up to the terrace and features plenty of cushy sofas and armchairs. Meanwhile, the kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances you need to craft an island-inspired meal, and also boasts a dishwasher and an espresso machine.

Up to four guests can be accommodated in Mapou’s two bedrooms, making it an ideal getaway for two couples or a small family. Both suites feature queen-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, televisions with DVD players and air conditioning. The master suite offers a walk-in closet, while the guest room boasts a private terrace.

The beach closest to the home is Saline, where sun worshippers can relax on its fine white sand or snorkel in its calm waters (note: it’s well known as a nudist haunt). A 5.9 km drive takes you to Gustavia, the island’s capital. Here you can wander through this port town’s historical attractions or upmarket boutiques before enjoying one of the many restaurants.
